It would be nice to know what Jerry Medved has planned, if anything, about his future in the trading software business.  Has he been offered a chance to re-acquire Quotetracker, is he planning to get back into the business with new software, is he so wealthy now that he will distance himself from trading?  Quotetracker (before TDAmeritrade bought it) was such an exemplary example of how to produce good software.  And it's so rare to have a developer with such a good touch, and also so responsive to the users.  It would be a pity if he never came back into this trading universe of ours.

Does anyone have a direct line to the Medveds...or even a personal email address?

Seconded! Great people, capable software developers, and always true to their word and their products' users.

As for future plans.....hey Medveds, if you build it......we will come.

There's not much to tell. Nothing is going on, nothing is in the works, TDA owns the right to QT and they plan on keeping those rights. After so many years of developing QT and the sleepless nights that came with it, I suspect both Jerry and Mike are just looking to relax for a bit and maybe spend some extra time with their families; before falling prey to the theme for "Cats in the Cradle".

As for a "personal" email address, I'm sure it's bad enough to receive and reply to hundreds of emails a day when you're getting paid for it. But it really would suck to have to do it for free. So I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for him to let that bit of information get out. Lips Sealed

I'm sure when they're ready, they'll let us all know.

I sent a message to Ameritrade support asking if they could supply a Medved contact, and they declined to do so.

I also sent them another message pointing out that I only have an account with Ameritrade in order to get free access to QT, and if support for it were stopped, I would withdraw my funds.

Just to be clear, I didn't want the Medved's email so I could personally contact them, I should have left that line out of my message.  I was hoping that someone was in contact with them and could relay their plans.

When I've spoken to TDAmeritrade in the past, they never acknowledged that they had purchased QT, just that there was some kind of arrangement...so I thought that maybe the Medved's still owned the program.  Whatever the situation was, it was striking how little QT mattered to the TDAmeritrade techs I'd spoken with.  Most had barely heard of it and had never used it, and admitted to me that it didn't figure very high in their companies plans.  And now that StrategyDesk is on the last legs of it's life, it wouldn't be a surprise to hear that Quotetracker was close behind.

What happens if TDAmeritrade drops Quotetracker?  Will it still work on our registration numbers?  Does TDAmeritrade think they can force QT users to user their quicky, user un-friendly ThinkorSwim.  Both StrategyDesk and QT were very easy to use, logical, well laid out, easy on the eyes...none of these descriptions apply (inmyhumbleopinion) to TOS.

We'll just have to hope that the Medved's aren't too burnt out, and that someday they'll conjure back the sense of pride and accomplishment that must have come from QT's creation...what's the chance of that happening?

I'm a longtime QT user, and just hope AMTD leaves it alone... Grin

I'm presently testing NinjaTrader, but would hate to leave QT, superb charts!!!

Wish the Medved's all the best...
