We have not yet certified QT to work with Vista and I know that there are at least some issues. One of them has to do with new security stuff in Vista. It interferes with QuoteTracker saving files, which mean updates are not saved, user settings, etc.  If you turn off UAC(see note below), it should resolve the problem. Alternately, you can try copying the QT folder and its subfolders somewhere like (C:\QuoteTracker for example, instead of C:\Program Files\QuoteTracker). So long as its outside of the "Program Files" folder.

Just make the folder right off the root and copy all files there. Everything should work ok then, at least according to some Vista information I received.

The other known issue is the buttons that QT adds to the caption, like the LINK buttons, do not show in vista.

UAC=User Account Control
Here's how to disable it:

I have been struggling with Vista/ QuoteTracker issues since March when I bought a new Dell and installed QT. I recently came across this support e-mail.

I have found that turning off UAC does not solve the problem of Vista not allowing an update( actually it does the update but will not save the old version, you need to do that your self if you only deactivate UAC). I resorted to downloading the program and using qtsetup.exe to install the program. With either method QT just didn't work properly.

Moving the QT file out of the programs directory was magic. Vista updates from within the program and saves the old version and does not do any of the other crazy things it was doing before. I hope I am not dreaming--pinch me!

You're not dreaming. The problem with Vista and the program files folder is all the settings, procedures and protocols related to file and folder permissions. I suspect (or at least hope) that when Vista SP1 comes out in the first part of 2008 this problem will be fixed.
