Hi everyone,

Ever since I upgraded to the latest Trader Workstation (TWS 885), whenever I try to send an order to Interactive Brokers using the QuoteTracker I get the following error message:

Apparently, according to Mazel at QT, it has something to do with "large order ID". However, according to another source, the problem lies with "a number passed to TWS is not being forced to use points as decimal placeholders and is instead using the local of the machine and using a comma." (http://www.rightedgesystems.com/forums/Topic5730-11-1.aspx)

Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem? Any clue? Thanks in advance for any help.

P.S. I'm in a dire strait, and folks at QT and IB seem to only point fingers at one another.

Did it really work before upgrading to TWS 885?  Then you can just run version 884 instead of 885 by selecting "TWS Previous Version" from the TWS program shortcuts.  Or, if the TWS upgrade didn't setup the previous version stuff correctly, you can downgrade your version to 884 from the TWS download page at IB.  You won't be losing anything but problems imo.

Your RightEdge reference is much older than TWS 885, so something's inconsistent here.

Howdy! Thanks for replying. I have actually downgraded to TWS 884 out of desperation but that didn't fix the problem either. However, as I understand it, the problem lies with large order ID that gets assigned to the order. According to the email I got back from QT personnel, QuoteTracker doesn't "assigns anything. This is an IB server issue." But whenever a successful connection is made between QT (or any other API) and TWS, the nextValidId callback function assigns the order ID (source: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/php/apiUsersGuide/apiguide/c/nextvalidid.htm#IX_nextValidId )

So my question is does or does not QT assign its own order ID?

I can't vouch for QT code, but can vouch that TWS trading through QT has worked fine for years.

I was really hoping this was a bug in TWS 885, which has some showstoppers for me.  You'll no doubt need QT developers' help to go any further with this. Sad
