Set new News alert Port for all
«

When open Alerts/Quick Alerts, these's a description word News
at the top with individual check boxes below.
If have lot of stocks in the Portfolio how about being able to
click on that work News and have it select checks for all.
Then just uncheck the ones w/o a News alert.
I usually only set that alert for open positions. Having to
click like 10 boxes in just 2-3 Ports of open positions is a drag when want them all to Alert.
Thanks a lot for still great proggy.
PS Izone Real Time data feed stopped working Friday @2pm and
never did restart. Just hung on Connecting. Reran & tried
Update, no go. Streamer worked ok as did site.

Here is a workaround - set a global news alert and then just set the news to come in on the one portfolio you are watching. Friday - there was an issue with the API servers. Has been addressed from what I hear.

Thanks for reply. Don't quite get it tho. There's 2 tabs, one
for Quick Alerts, and to right of it Alert Defaults.
Quick allows per Port settings, but need to click each stock on
the list, and I have 3 Ports to set. Just want to set all or none from the News field (to left of Volume).
Now in Alert Defaults how do I set New Alerts from in it. I can
set a Default for Sound and such. But how to redirect Incoming
News to a specific Port (rem have 3)?
Most of my many Ports just have a few new News set so don't need
them to be set On or Off. Need to leave them alone.
So how to single out just certain ports to get an On or Off News
for all those in the Port.
Thanks a lot. Hope I've explained way I'm doing it now.
See when creating, say, a new Port of fresh open trades Ports,
only way I know is to go to Quick Alerts and check individual
boxes under News. Appreciate the help!

With my suggestion, you would set the alert on the regular ALERTS tab, to the left of QUICK ALERTS.
Click on the NEW button on bottom left.
Check the GLOBAL checkbox to the right of the red ENABLED field.
Set Alert type to be "New News"
And save it
Now just configure your news to get news on current portfolio or specific portfolios only.

Ok here's how I acted on your instructions. Opened an existing Port. Cursor at top of symbols' list, no symbol highlighted.
Clicked that lower left New, then Type: New News. Click Global
box. Had to click box that says Only check symbols for which the program has data (else when check Global there are a lot of blank News Alerts come up, OR for stocks not in ANY Port).
So then I hsve a Global Alert for new News that I guess is for that specific Port?
Maybe that's not what you meant but I can't see how to send a
Global new News alert to any of various Ports. The Ports don't show up on symbols list with names like the symbols & Index do.
For now I'll leave that Global setting at top of List and set
for Only if data exists.
Clicking on Alert Desc & it reads out as When new News comes in
that is less than XYZ unfilter highlight row, popup, etc.
So XYZ is in there as a SPAM hold for non-specific symbol.
Just got a News alert for a stock & when clicked on it to read it, it went to the stock Ok. And I didn't have any News alert
for that specific stock and it is in another Port. So seems I'm
still not direction a Glonal News to a specific Port. Only
Quick Alerts seems to offer Port by Port access -- and then the
check symbols one by one.
So unless I know how to direct the fetching News per Port I'm
still in the dark about instructions.
Thanks for bearing with me since I seem to be missing something?

Ah! Thanks hugely. Will make note & do it later today.
Appreciate this esp before Monday. Market news been more
hoppy lately so settings important.
PS Had bit trouble Fri afternoon getting that ver G
after QT gave update notice. Error in file. Finally got
it. Only 1 small fix so no biggie.
